Baby, this is musical warfare and the enemy is you! March around in the rhythms, it’s the smashing of atoms, and the beating of ear drums, and the killing of millions, cuz we’ve got your good rock and roll!

Use this site as the final chapter of what was “The Shit”, told through the music and stories shared to me by former band members and the fans who never forgot how amazing of a band they really were.

The Shit was one of the best bands to come out of Annapolis, Maryland that you’ve never heard of; used as a vehicle for Psycho Mike to get his songs out to the people The Shit played the Annapolis / Baltimore area as much as they could from 1990 to 1994. In basements, vacant houses, college campuses… The Shit “split ears then sewed them up different” everywhere they went. In their short time together the band released two albums full of memorable songs, yet 20 years later there’s next to nothing available online to show that the band ever existed, all there seems to be are the memories burned into the heads of people who were lucky enough to experience them first hand. Thanks to band friend and regional legend Mary Prankster, The Shit lived on through the late ’90 into the 2000s via her cover of their classic “Don’t Bury Me”… and this is where I got my first taste and I had to know more, but there was nothing to be found… then when Mary retired in 2005 the trail went totally cold. Fast-forward 15 years, my daughter’s new found interest in Mary Prankster renewed my quest to hear and to learn  as much as I could about The Shit; what you find here is my reward for persistence. No one should ever need to dig again, whether you’re a new fan or someone taking a stroll down memory lane it’s all here.

Advice: water your own backyard and you can maybe grow something this good.
